Pull Apart Rolls
2 cups Three Farm Daughters 100% Wheat Flour
2 cups spelt or all purpose flour
2 tbsp sugar
4 tsp instant yeast + ¼ lukewarm water
1 tsp salt
½ cup lukewarm milk
¼ cup canola oil
½ cup lukewarm water
Dissolve yeast in ¼ cup lukewarm water, let sit for 1-2 minutes or until bubbles form and yeast is activated.
Combine flours, sugar and salt in mixing bowl of a stand mixer using the hook attachment.
Warm milk for 30 seconds in microwave
Add the egg and oil to the milk and whisk to combine and the add the yeast mixture along with the other wet ingredients while the mixer is running.
Add water until the dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Let dough knead for 2-3 minutes or until soft and smooth.
Spay a large bowl with oil, place dough in bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let sit in a warm place for 45-60 min or until the dough doubles in size.
Place poofed dough on lightly floured counter, divide into 16 pieces by cutting in half and then halves again and again. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Form the dough into round smooth buns. Place them on the baking sheet making sure each bun is nestled up to the next. Brush tops of rolls with an egg wash.
Allow buns to rise for a send time before baking, 45-60 min or until puffy.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Bake for 18 – 25 minutes or until golden brown.
